Body: I am presenting my current primary suggestions or complaints about the Spout website: 1. When looking at user’s page you can click on the “movies” tab to get a list of movie lists. In the past I had suggested that Spout generate it’s own list of movies based on the person’s rating including. Thank you so much for doing so. There are now lists on everyone’s page called “Highly rated movies” and “Least favorite movies”. The “Least favorite movies” list apparently provides a list of movies that the person has listed as 1 star or 2 stars, HOWEVER it also lists movies that the person has marked as “not interested”. Here is an example: http://www.spout.com/Films/ScopeFocusViewAll.aspx?ScopeFocusType=Me_Default&MemberID=65302&ViewAllType=Film_Lowest_Rated I believe these items should not be included in this list as these aren’t movies that a person has rated low, these are movies the person has not even seen! It would be much more appropriate remove these movies from the “Least favorite movies” list altogether and could possibly create a separate list for these movies. Also when you look at a specific movie’s page there is a section called “Community ratings” on the right side of the screen which gives the average rating of Spout mavens and of all users on the site. I sure hope that when people list a movie as “not interested” this is not somehow a negative vote towards the movie’s average rating, as this person hasn’t even seen the film, but I wanted to make sure this wasn’t the case due to the strange situation listed above. 2. I have mentioned this several times, but still feel confused about how to navigate user’s blogs sometimes. If you go to a user’s main blog page it will display the last 15 blog entries they have made. However there is no simple link to click to look at the next oldest 15 blog entries. The only mode of navigation for older blog entries is the calendar on the right side of the screen. If you click on a specific month however, the page only displays 6 blog entries from that month, even if there are many more. And again there is no simple link to click to look at the rest of the blog entries in the month. You need to click on the specific date on the calendar on the right side to display the blog entries on that day. Then again the most blog entries it will display is 6 so if the person wrote more than 6 blog entries in a day there is no way to see all of them. Yes this is uncommon, but does happen. So my main concern is just that the blogs are difficult to navigate, but in some instances makes it impossible to view some blog entries altogether. 3. I am very interested in the “recommendations” link that appears near the top of the screen just under the ads: http://www.spout.com/films/Default/Recommended_Films/ScopeFocusViewAll.aspx There is a real problem here though. Once I mark a movie as “I want to see it.” it no longer appears in this recommendations list. Currently I have marked over 4000 movies as “I want to see it.” This is probably enough movies to last a life time. So I don’t really need Spout recommending even more movies to me that aren’t already in that list. What I would like is for Spout to recommend to me which of the movies that I have already listed as “I want to see it.” that it thinks I would like the most. Maybe you can have an option that users can turn on or off whether it wants Spout to include movies the user has listed as such in the recommendations list or not. 4. On the movie pages, are excerpts and links for the five most recent movie reviews and the five most recent discussion that link to the movie. If you click on the “Reviews” it shows you the ten most recent movie reviews. It would be nice if there was a link to a page where you could see all of the movie reviews and all of the discussions that have linked to the movie, instead of just being able to see the five most recent discussions and ten most recent movie reviews. 5. When you are on a movie page it shows a green icon next to the “add to lists” link on the left side of the screen if the movie is listed in any of your lists. When you click on the link it brings up a pop up menu of all of the lists you have access to add to even all of the ones in groups. If you have many lists and are a part of many groups, this is a huge list! It would be nice if there was an easier way to quickly review which of your lists a movie was listed in without having to scroll through this entire pop up menu. 6. I have mentioned this before, but the comment system on our personal blog entries is kind of strange. When you click on one of your blog entries it shows the entry and then at the bottom of the page it shows any comments. However Spout also presents other ways for you to view your comments. You can can go to the “reviews” page and then click the “manage feedback” button at the top which brings you to this link: http://www.spout.com/blogs/ManageFeedback.aspx If you click on a comment it will bring you to a page that just displays the comment itself. You then have the ability to comment on a comment. But if you do this, the comment doesn’t appear anywhere under the main entry that the original comment was posted. Also, I have it set up so that I get an email when I receive a comment. The link in the email also brings me to the same page that just shows the comment by itself. It’s kind of confusing.
Body: I can't tell you how many times I've left Spout frustrated because the Search function just does not work. Searching for movie titles almost never works for me. And even when the Search box auto fills in a result for me (suggesting that the movie IS in the spout database, right?) it will pull up no results. Often I have to find the movie by searching through latest releases (which only works if the movie is a new release).
