Body: So apparently The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is getting released as part of the Criterion Collection. http://www.criterion.com/films/1584 Many will be ecstatic but I'm just hoping this leads to other David Fincher films being released on Criterion.
Body: There are certain films which are aching for a Criterion release. My suggestions are Night and Dawn of the Dead (the original Romero versions of course). Also I think there should be at least one Errol Morris film in the collection. Also the Bicycle thief should be in there, even though they included Umberto D. As for films that don't deserve to be in the collection: the Rock, Armageddon, RoboCop, and Fat Girl. Anything Michael Bay deserves to be burned.
Body: I am a bargain hunter in general, but I love to dig for things. I have made it pretty much a standard that I don't pay full price for Criterions even though I love them. I have a hard time paying $40 for a movie. Here are a few that I have found for really really low prices.Seven Samurai - $7 (Blockbuster used area)Carnival of Soulds - $5 (Second hand store)Band of Outsiders - $6 (Bizarre junk shop in Niles Michigan)Shock Corridor - $8 (Going out of business clearance at Hollywood Video) Robocop - $25 (ebay, usually sells for $80ish... its out of print) I will add more if I have any new super on the cheap aquisitions.
Body: I've been getting the newsletter for a few months now, and I'm usually perplexed by some of the cartoons. Last month said something about "Maxing it out", and now several films by Max Ophuls are planned for release. This months says: "Baby it's cold outside" with some small house-looking thing? I figured these cartoons merit discussion, and for the most part (from what I've seen) they go completely beyond me.
