Classic Family Movies at Spout

Perhaps no other movies stand the test of time as well as classic family movies do. You can scrape together all the computer animation that can fit on a DVD and, odds are, Snow White will still make it look sophomoric. And by today's special effect's standards, The Wizard of Oz is archaic. You get the feeling, though, that in another 70 years, Dorothy and the gang will still be changing people's lives while most of the latest animation movies have been long since forgotten.

What is it about classic family movies that makes them...well...classics? When you join Spout, you can ponder this question with other serious movie aficionados, and perhaps find a few movies along the way that will join the ranks of your family classics.

After you complete your registration at Spout (it’s fast and free!), you can jump in on discussions about classic family movies with other members, many who have children and are trying to help each other discover (or rediscover) classic family movies to share with their kids. As a Spout member, you can rate flicks, tag 'em, list 'em, discuss 'em, and even blog 'em. In fact, as soon as we find some other fun you can have online with classic family movies, we'll do our best to offer that, too.

It’s important to have people in your life you can trust to help you find movies suitable for children these days. The Spout community is your ideal resource for not only finding classic family movies, but also for movie reviews by other parents, getting information on the latest animation movies, and watching previews for other great films for the whole family.

List Your Favorite Classic Family Movies

Spout has a bunch of way cool features our users love. One of the most popular is our listing feature. You can build lists of movies as generic as "Movies I've Seen" to as specialized as "Movies Suitable for Children" and "My Ten-Year-Old’s Favorites." Lists are a great source for sharing and finding out about movies. Think about it--a few mouse-clicks get you tapped into trusted user lists that can become your checklists of what to buy or rent. By creating your own lists and ratings, you can also become someone else’s trusted source.

When you combine list-making with blogging and discussion features, you could find yourself in a circle of experts among the classic family movies crowd. And when you find some classic family movies you'd like to take home, just make a quick trip over to the Spout store, and fill your cart.

In addition to listing classic family movies, you can also use our tagging feature. Follow other Spout members' one-word descriptors to help you find classic family movies and other movies suitable for children. Tags offer a fun and adventurous way to find some great recommendations. Check out hundreds of family movies roll out. And even not-so-common terms like quirky, imaginative, or goodvsevil turn up great starting points (and maybe a few surprises!) for your classic family movies quest.

Once you've got a good list of movies you want to see, you can check out some family movie reviews and watch old movie trailers to see what's right for your family. Heck, you can even pull your munchkin onto your lap and see what he or she seems to like.

Another valuable Spout feature that is particularly handy in diggin' for classic family movies is the ability to join or create groups. You can start discussions, pose questions, ask for recommendations, or serve warnings about some films that just don't fall into the family movie category. That's the benefit of community, and a big benefit of signing up at Spout.

" Japan's Longest Day (Nihon no ichiban nagai hi, 1968) IMDB Japan's Longest Day deals with the surrender of Japan at the end of World War II. What makes this movie particularly interesting is the perspective, that of the Japanese. Life On Mars Remake
By aidanbrack on The Bigger Picture
" So it seems that the American remake of the BBC Life On Mars television series is to go ahead despite a pilot that received very dubious reviews at the time. The big news though is that Colm Meaney is no longer attached to the project as Gene Hunt and instead Harvey Keitel is taking on that role. Now part of the reason I was prepared to give the remake a chance was because of M ... [More]"
