Biography
A graduate of British television, cinematographer Tony Pierce-Roberts began attracting attention in 1982 with such visually arresting big-screen projects as
Moonlighting. He hit his stride after 1985, working on subject matter ranging from literary adaptations (1991's
White Fang) to door-slamming farce (1993's
Splitting Heirs). Since his Oscar-nominated work for 1986's
Room With a View, Pierce-Roberts has been one of the most valued members of the Ismael Merchant-
James Ivory film concern. Tony Pierce-Roberts was the man behind the camera for such Merchant-Ivory gems as Mr. and Mrs. Bridge (1990), Howard's End (1992), and
Remains of the Day (1993). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
