Biography
Producer and screenwriter Stephen J. Friedman started out as lawyer working for the Federal Trade Commission after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and Harvard Law School. He next worked for the legal departments of Columbia Pictures, the Ashley Famous Agency and Paramount Pictures. He made his debut as a producer with the Oscar-winning
The Last Picture Show (1971). Three years later he founded the Kings Road Entertainment production company. Freidman has since continued steadily producing such films Little Darlings, (1980),
All of Me (1984) and
There Goes the Neighborhood (1992). Friedman died of cancer on October 4, 1996. He was 59. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
