Biography

As a screenwriter, Sheridan Gibney worked on many screenplays, both alone and in collaboration, from the early '30s through the mid '50s. Some of his better-known screenplays include I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang (1932) and the Story of Louis Pasteur (1936) for which he won Oscars for "Best Original Story" and "Best Screenplay." Between 1930 and 1941, Gibney served as president of the Screen Writers Guild and resumed the position from 1947-48.
