Biography
Actor Ryan Donowho signed for his first screen roles in the early 2000s. Thereafter, he specialized for a period of time in portrayals of intense, brooding, slightly troubled young men in earnest dramas -- a pattern exemplified by his work in such films as
Rhythm of the Saints (2003),
Bringing Rain (2003),
The Mudge Boy (2003),
A Home at the End of the World (2004) and
Imaginary Heroes (2004). With Donowho's zany contribution to
Michael Lehmann's decidedly offbeat comedy
Flakes (2007), however, (in which he portrayed a character named Skinny Larry), the actor broke free of the trend that had characterized his prior career choices. In addition to his film work, Donowho also had a recurring role during the third season (2005-2006) of the popular TV drama The O.C., playing Johnny, a talented but troubled surfer whom Marissa Cooper (
Mischa Barton) befriends. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
