Biography

Spanish filmmaker Pedro Masó got his first job in the film industry playing a bit part in Sáenz de Heredias' El Escándalo/The Scandal (1943). After that, Masó worked behind the scenes in minor capacities through 1953, when he began writing scripts. Three years later, Masó had worked his way up to co-producer. In 1961, he founded his own production company, Pedro Masó P.C., and began churning out mainstream comedies, most directed by Pedro Lazaga. Masó himself made his directorial debut with Las Ibéricas F.C./The Ibéricas Football Club in 1971; he subsequently directed a number of films in the '70s. In the '80s, his output became more sporadic, in part because Masó was focusing on his successful television career. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
