Biography
Irish stage actor Max Adrian was active in British films from 1934 until his death. Adrian's self-consciously "campy" style was ideally suited to such roles as the Dauphin in Olivier's
Henry V, and, much later, the gesticulating theatrical impresario in Ken Russell's
The Boy Friend (1971). For the most part, however, Adrian tended to be too much of a good thing. In the late 1960s, Max Adrian toured as George Bernard Shaw in the one-man presentation By George. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
