Biography
University of Miami and Columbia alumnus Elliot Kastner entered the Hollywood work force as a talent agent. Kastner turned to producing in 1965 with Universal's
Bus Riley's Back in Town then ventured into international productions, including
Where Eagles Dare (1969), X Y and Zee (1973) and
Equus (1977). He is best known for his trio of
Raymond Chandler adaptations:
The Long Goodbye (1973), Farewell My Lovely (1975) and
The Big Sleep (1978). With notable exceptions like the notorious
