Biography
British director Mark Cullingham worked exclusively in theatre and television. On TV, he specialized in adaptations of popular and classic plays and worked for American and British studios. His most notable British television projects include
84 Charing Cross Road which received a nomination for a British Academy Award,
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, and
Casanova. His U.S. directorial efforts include the Emmy-winning PBS production of Eleanor: In Her Own Words, Showtime's Fairie Tale Theatre: Cinderella, Short Stories/Tall Tales (CBS). Cullingham became a director at Britain's National Theater in 1964 following studies at Worcester College in Oxford. He started out at the theater as an assistant director and while there worked with such distinguished actors as
Laurence Olivier and
