Biography

An editor in British films by the mid '30s, Clark edited several notable American films in the '40s and '50s, including John Ford's How Green Was My Valley, William A. Wellman's Roxie Hart and Buffalo Bill, Howard Hawks' I Was a Male War Bride, Henry Hathaway's The Desert Fox and 23 Paces to Baker Street, and Joseph L. Mankiewicz' Five Fingers. Clark began directing in 1957 with the war drama Under Fire. He went on to specialize in nature and adventure films aimed at young audiences, such as Flipper, Island of the Blue Dolphins, My Side of the Mountain, and The Little Ark. ~ All Movie Guide
