Biography

Italian filmmaker Geoffredo Alessandrini was never considered a great director, but he was noted for reliably turning out commercially successful films. He was born in Cairo, Egypt to Italian parents. In 1928, he entered the film industry as an assistant to filmmaker Alessandro Blasetti. Two years later Alessandrini was working in Hollywood dubbing MGM pictures into Italian. He moved to Italy in the early 1930s and became a distinguished director of fascist propaganda films. In 1952, he moved to Egypt, but he did not stay there long. Soon he returned to Italy to begin his directorial career in earnest. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
