Biography
Vaudevillian Guy Oliver made his film debut with the old Eclair Studios in 1912. After appearing in such one-reel wonders as
Saved From the Titanic and
Robin Hood, Oliver moved into features. He was prominently cast in several Cecil B. De Mille silents, and was seen as frontiersman Kit Carson in both
The Covered Wagon (1923) and
The Vanishing American (1924). His talking-picture roles included Ulysses S. Grant in
Only the Brave (1930) and Judge Thatcher in
Huckleberry Finn (1932). Guy Oliver was last seen in 1931's
Sooky, repeating his Dad Burkey role from the earlier
Skippy. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
