A leading actor of the American Yiddish theatre, Leo Fuchs has occasionally played comedy character parts in English-language productions. During the 1960s, Fuchs enjoyed sizeable guest roles in such TV sitcoms as Mister Ed and Valentine's Day. He also replaced Jack Gilford as Herr Schultz in the Broadway production Cabaret, continuing in this role on tour and in innumerable summer-stock stagings. During the 1970s, Fuchs divided his professional time between New York and London. On film, Leo Fuchs was starred as Nat Silver in the Yiddish-language American Matchmaker (1940) and was featured in such Hollywood efforts as The Frisco Kid (1975) and Barry Levinson's Avalon (1990; as Hymie Krichinsky). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
