Biography

From 1949 through the '60s, French actress Nicole Courcel graced the screen with a number of sensitive performances. Not well-known outside of France, Nicole nonetheless satisfied her Gallic fans with her work in La Marie Du Port (1949), Versailles (1953) and La Sorciere (1963). Her most widely circulated film was also one of the most hauntingly beautiful French productions of the 1960s. In Rene Clement's Sundays and Cybele, Nicole Courcel played Madeleine, the compassionate but possessive and jealous nurse of mental patient Hardy Kruger. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
