Biography
Mikel Conrad began his screen career in 1948 as a Universal-International contract player. In 1949, Conrad embarked upon an extended working vacation to Alaska, which he parlayed into a short starring career. In 1950, he produced, wrote, and appeared in
The Flying Saucer, an Alaska-based piece of speculative fiction. In hopes of drumming up business, Conrad sent out a publicity release which intimated that his film contained actual footage of a flying saucer (it didn't). Mikel Conrad dropped out of sight shortly after appearing in another sci-fi cheapie,
Untamed Women. Mikel Conrad should not be confused with
Michael Conrad of
Hill Street Blues fame. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
