Biography

Not to be confused with the later Get Smart star, Ed Platt was the straight man of the hayseed comedy duo of Oscar and Elmer, forever translating his partner's stuttering verbiage. As radio and recording artists, the duo was rather unaccountably popular at Republic Pictures from 1936 to 1937, where they popped up in several Three Mesqueteers oaters and the serial The Painted Stallion (1937), in which they supplied the comedy relief. ~ Hans J.
