Biography
British-born actress Zuleikha Robinson spent her childhood in Thailand and Malaysia before moving to Los Angeles in her late adolescence to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Her name means "beautiful one" in Persian, and living up to her name, Robinson's lovely face only added to her talent and charisma. She soon found work in the unconventional film
Timecode, which was shot in a continuous take on four different cameras, in real time. A short time later, she was cast in the cult-hit
X-Files spin-off The Lone Gumman before appearing in the adventure drama
Hidalgo. In 2005, Robinson played Jessica in the Merchant of Venice adaptation starring
Al Pacino,
Jeremy Irons, and
Joseph Fiennes, followed by a role in the next year's indie hit
The Namesake, playing Moushumi, lead character Gogol Ganguli's eventual Bengali wife. Then in 2007, Robinson was cast as the treacherous brothel supervisor and slave Gaia during the
second season of the HBO/BBC series
Rome. In 2008, she co-starred on the Fox series
New Amsterdam as police detective Eva Marquez, the partner of immortal main character John Amsterdam. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide
