Biography

Noted television producer Shelley List and her husband Jonathan Estrin created, produced, and supervised a number of acclaimed series and miniseries. Between 1986 and 1988 List and Estrin produced the groundbreaking, Emmy-winning cop show Cagney & Lacey. The pair have won the Cable Ace Award for their writing on Between Friends and in 1989, won the following year's Writers Guild Award for penning the pilot to the NBC drama Sisters. Their scripting of the miniseries Danielle Steel's Jewels garnered two Golden Globe nominations. A native of New York and a graduate of Reed College and Columbia University, List started out as a journalist in Westport, CT. She gradually advanced to the New York Times and then the Los Angeles Times before breaking into television. When not working, List was actively involved with Operation U.S.A., an organization that delivers medical supplies to some of the world's biggest disaster areas. She also participated on the board of the Hollywood women's Political Committee. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
