Biography
Filmmaker Shane Meadows' debut feature was
Twentyfourseven (1998). Raised in Nottingham England, he dropped out of school as a teenager. After some odd jobs and a shot at studying acting and photography, Meadows volunteered at an art center and learned the craft of video-making. He taught himself a technique on video to mimic cheap 16 millimeter film. Discovered by producer Imogene West after he shot, directed and screened a number of his own video shorts, Meadows was signed up to make
Twentyfourseven, a boxing film starring
Bob Hoskins.
