Biography

Philip Barry Jr. was a producer on stage, screen, and television. The son of playwright Philip Barry, the New York City native started in the entertainment industry in 1946 after serving as a navy officer during WWII and graduating from Yale. Barry's first producing job was as an assistant producer on a stage production of his father's The Animal Kingdom. Barry entered television as a story editor for Robert Montgomery Presents in the '50s, later moving on to produce such series as The Alcoa Hour and The Goodyear Playhouse. In 1958, Barry produced his first feature film, The Mating Game, and would only produce one more feature before devoting his full attention to television production. Over his career in television, Barry has won several awards including an Emmy, a Peabody, and a NAACP Image Award. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
