Biography

Socially conscious filmmaker Godfrey Reggio is noted for making non-narrative filled with sharply fragmented, surreal imagery. He is quite fond of using slow and stop-motion photography. Reggio frequently has his works scored by avant-garde composer Philip Glass. Before becoming a director, Reggio, who was educated at the College of Santa Fe, New Mexico, was a Roman Catholic priest. His involvement with radical politics led to his being asked to leave the priesthood. From there Reggio utilized television to further his causes, most of which centered on social injustice and other problems. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
