Biography
With the award-winning documentary
Crumb (1995), producer Lynn O'Donnell reached the pinnacle of her too short career. A disturbing and provocative portrait of underground cartoonist Robert Crumb and his dysfunctional family,
Crumb (directed by longtime friend of R. Crumb,
Terry Zwigoff) earned the Grand Prix at the 1995 Sundance Film Festival and was named by many critics in their top ten best films of the year list. A native of Berkeley, O'Donnell studied filmmaking at San Francisco State University. Other efforts include a public television documentary on Carlos Gardel, Voices of the Tango, and a biography of 1980 Nobel Laureate Czeslw Milosz. O'Donnell also produced the slow-paced, subtle cross-cultural comedy
Living on Tokyo Time (1987). Lynn died of ovarian cancer on April 17, 1996. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
