Biography

Screenwriter Douglas Morrow earned an Oscar for scripting the biography of crippled baseball player Monty Stratton, The Stratton Story (1948). Morrow initially entered Hollywood as an actor, playing small parts in such features as Maisie Goes to Reno (1944) and Lady Luck (1946). As a screenwriter, Morrow's subsequent credits include Jim Thorpe: All American (1951) and Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (1956). Morrow also produced a few films for Warner Bros. during the 1950s. With the studio, Morrow penned scripts for scores of television episodes. In 1973, Morrow wrote and produced the feature film Maurie. Afterwards, he retired. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
