Biography
British producer/director/writer Oswald Mitchell entered films as soon as they learned to talk. Primarily a screenwriter, Mitchell occasionally functioned as producer from 1936's
Stars on Parade onward. His directorial credits include both the 1934 and 1941 version of
Danny Boy and the blood-and-thunder Todd Slaughter melodrama
Greed of William Hart (1947). And it was Oswald Mitchell who launched the "Old Mother Riley" comedy series in 1937, ultimately directing and/or scripting five "Riley" entries. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
