American cinematographer
William Mellor began his career working for Paramount as a lab assistant; soon he was promoted to assistant cameraman. By 1934, Mellor had become a full-fledged lighting director for Paramount, MGM, and Fox. For his work on
A Place in the Sun (1951) and
