Biography

Before becoming a Hollywood producer, Paul Maslansky attended Washington & Lee University and New York University where he studied law. He then worked as a trumpet player and radio salesman for a radio station before studying at the Cinémathèque Française in Paris. Just before graduation, his film Letter From Paris earned him a special award at Cannes. In 1962, Maslansky was the assistant director on The Counterfeit Traitor. He then became a production manager in Europe. From there, he produced a few low-budget films and then turned to major co-productions in both Europe and the U.S. In 1974, Maslansky directed the film Sugar Hill. As a producer, he is best known for producing films in the Police Academy series. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
