Biography

A former theatrical poster artist and stage manager, Producer Nat Holt was aligned with several major studios (RKO, 20th Century-Fox, Paramount) during his Hollywood years, but maintained an independent, autonomous production unit throughout. Specializing in westerns, Holt was briefly partnered with cowboy star Randolph Scott for such films as Badman's Territory (1946), Trail Street (1947), Fighting Man of the Plains (1949) and Canadian Pacific (1949), Among his few non-westerns were the action-packed Riff Raff (1947), Hurricane Smith (1951) and Flight to Tangier (1953). Nat Holt remained with six-guns and Stetsons in his TV series work, including the long-running Tales of Wells Fargo (1957-61) and the short-lived Overland Trail (1960). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
