Biography

Screenwriter Marguerite Roberts began working for 20th Century Fox in 1926 as a secretary and reader after working as a news reporter. In 1933, she collaborated on the screenplay for Sailor's Luck. Later, she became a screenwriter for both Paramount and MGM until she and her husband, John Sanford, were blacklisted by the House Un-American Activities Committee. She did not work again until she was hired by Columbia to work on Diamond Head. After that, she again began to work steadily. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
