Biography

Before becoming a cinematographer, Louis Clyde Stoumen was a hotel manager and a forest ranger. He started out in film as an assistant cameraman for Keystone Studios in 1914. Over his career, Stouman was involved in many films and was especially noted for his outdoor cinematography. He shared an Oscar for The Quiet Man in 1952.
