Biography

Costume designer Lizzy Gardiner made quite a splash at the 1994 Academy Awards when she glided onstage to accept her Oscar for The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) in a dress made entirely of American Express Gold Cards. She launched her career in her native Australia, where she designed togs for television, feature films, and advertising for companies such as Pepsi. She has also designed for the fashion industry and for many music videos. Between 1989 and 1992, Gardiner was the principal costume designer for the Aussie television series E Street. Her film credits Down Under include Jilted, Devil's Hill, and Welcome to Woop Woop (1997). Gardiner first designed costumes for an American film in Bound (1996). She has since become a resident of the U.S. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
