German filmmaker Josef von Baky is best remembered for his film
Munchhausen (1943), a commemoration of the UFA's 25th anniversary that Goebbels ordered him to make. Born in Zombor, Hungary, von Baky started out as a film distributor. He then worked as an assistant director. He became a full-fledged director in 1936. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
