Biography
American screenwriter Jonathan Latimer "typed" himself as a specialist in mysteries with his first Hollywood assignment,
The Lone Wolf Spy Hunt (1939). Latimer did all right for himself with such atmospheric thrillers as
The Glass Key (1942),
Nocturne (1946),
They Won't Believe Me (1947) and
The Big Clock (1948), with the occasional time out for such frothier fare as Topper Returns. From the mid-1940s until 1957, he divided his activities between next-door-neighbor studios Paramount and RKO. Jonathan Latimer's last credit was the British
The Whole Truth (1958), slated for RKO release but ultimately distributed by Columbia. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
