Biography

Italian composer Giovanni Fusco scored many of the Neorealist films of Michelangelo Antonioni from the early 1950s through the mid-1960s and is known for creating subtle film scores using minimal instrumentation that well-complemented the situations on screen. He studied piano and composition at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Rome and made his debut scoring the 1936 documentary Il Cammino degli Eroi. In addition to working with Antonioni, Fusco also scored films for other directors, most notably for Alain Resnais on Hiroshima, Mon Amour (a collaboration with Georges Delerue, 1959) and La Guerre Est Finie (1966). ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
