Biography
British character actor Alfred Lynch was generally cast in roles calling for a cockney dialect and a pugnacious streak. Lynch made his first film, On the Fiddle, in 1961, after which he worked in medium-priced films until the all-star epic
55 Days at Peking (1965). In
The Hill (1965), a POW drama, Lynch was but one of many actors (including
Sean Connery) speaking in British vernacular so thick that one virtually needed subtitles to figure out what was going on! A more coherent Alfred Lynch could be seen in the Taylor-Burton
