Re:Games that should be movies ...
By Almuderas in Top 5
"Interesting choice concerning Final Fantasy 8 being turned into a movie. The writer and director would have a heck of a time getting that to work with live action; might have to do cartoon or animated. My personal opinion is that games offer a goldmine of material for films, and I feel like the film industry has only touched the surface. I feel the only two games which have been great adaptations were the original Mortal Combat, and the as of recent Silent Hill. Both of these films melded together emotional elements which one would feel during the game and brought them to the film, but also allowing it to be broad and appreciated by a non-gaming audience. It's a tricky balance, but I feel in the future when we get more directors and writers who come from the gaming generation that we'll get some very interesting and inovative conversions. Anyway, onto film ideas... a game based off of the Half Life series, particularly centered around the events in Half Life 2 would be outstanding, ... " [More]

Re:Episode 4: BONGO BOARD

"So I've seen all four episodes, with number 1 being my favorite because of the word exchange between the detective and the man outside the apartment complex. I found that pretty amusing. Anyway, about relationships, it seems like the detective changes slightly when he gets home to be with his wife. The same might be true for her, but we don't see her work day. Theirs some give and take and thats always good. I'm not an expert on relationships so I can't comment further, but they seem happy. I know from past experience that if things are going well at home, and/or you have someone you care about that cares about you, everything else in your day can be tolerated, usually no matter how bad it gets. The detective has got that. But I can't analyze anymore than that. I mean these shorts are very, very 'short." They should go a little longer perhaps? Of course if making it longer won't contribute to the material then don't do it, but it would be nice. " [More]

"I am biased because this is my all time favorite movie (it has to do with the nostaligia of seeing this as a kid), but this is what makes this movie so refreshing, even when watching it today; and what makes it so great. I used to watch this movie with my pops all the time when I lived at home, and still do when I go back. It's sort of our family movie. First of all, the language. If you have ever been or are interested in the languages of the world, and how they came about, you'll undoubtedly like this movie for those such attributes, if not anything else. This is a historicaly set movie, based in the 10 century, a time still in the remnants of the once great Roman Empire. We can definetly see this played out. For instance, theirs one scene early on in the movie where Ibn (Antonio Banderas) and his mentor (played by Omar Sharif) are in the main tent of the vikings, lead by Buliwyf (played by Vladimir Kulich, a hugely underworked actor in my opinion). Ibn and his mentor of ... " [More]
