"At the time of this writing, I observe in this website that overall, Spout experts are neutral about this movie, as are most people. I'm stumped, because, it is arguably one of the best movies that I have seen in a long time.A quick glance at the list of movies that were playing at the local mall and seeing that there was absolutely nothing that appealed to me, I checked website of a local theater in Albany, NY called Spectrum theater which is known to play alot of independent type films. I came across this movie and ended up being so grateful that I got to experience this film. The true story is about Christopher McCandless, a 23 year old with a college degree, a family with means, and a person with a decent moral fiber. He was someone who excelled in school, and had a future with promise. So, normally, this isn't someone you would expect to be detached from society the way he was. McCandless sets out on a trip to Alaska by way of hitch hiking, and stowing away on tr ... " [More]
He did it again

"I actually hesitated to watch this film, because, I thought how interesting could a documentary be about HMO's? Was this a film to be saved for a rental? I mean, 9/11, gun control, etc... are polarizing issues as it is and is sure to keep the viewer interested. But HMO's?Yes, he did it again. Michael Moore and his twisted sense of humor combined with sensibility succeeded once again by not only entertaining me, but also making me question the "establishment." He puts a face on the individual statistic and causes you to appreciate the issues on a human level. I think the reason why conservatives hate this guy so much is that he is able to dig deep in to their conscience, or lack thereof. Since TV Nation, this guy does it over and over again. If you're in the business of stickin it to the little guy, and you see Michael Moore and a camera crew, my advice to you is this. Don't argue. Don't fight. You'll only make it worse. Just put your han ... " [More]
stupid video store clerk

"I went into the video store which changed it's hours to close an hour earlier than it normally did. The woman behind the counter told me that it was past closing while I was looking. She was very patient, and I didn't want to hold her up. I told her I was looking for a good comedy, and she swore by this movie which was made with a bunch of washed up actors. Will somebody please tell Tim Allen that his Tool Time antics were ok for family prime time viewing, but it's friggin old now! The last time I saw John Travolta in anything good, was.... hmmm.... Welcome Back Kotter. Martin Lawrence? You've seen his character in one movie, you've seen 'em all. If I wanted to watch repeats, I'd watch TV in the summer time. One thing I did find out though. If you ever suffer from insomnia, just shell out a few bucks for this rental, and save your Lunesta money. " [More]
dateline predator with a twist

"I have to admit, I'm one of them.... I'm one of the viewers who await anxiously for each one of those Dateline Predator shows to come on. It has been TV at it's finest. The moment one of these guys have been caught, well, I have to say.... TV doesn't get any better than that. So, when I watched this movie and it's interesting twist on the topic, I was filled with conflicting emotions. I couldn't decide whether to cheer Ellen Page's character or fear her. In a day when we pay lip service to the importance of protecting kids, I often shrug my shoulders and sort of retreat to the fact that kids will be exploited. As dark as this movie was, it was satisfying to see a seemingly vulnerable, would be victim stand up, and not only confront her predator, but open him up from the inside out and let him be exposed and have his deepest and darkest inner demons be revealed. And even though we see her cut open a little bit, this man's soul was left with deep ... " [More]
I usually scoff at movie marketing

"Even though the movie was alot like a long TV episode, it was worth the $8 I spent to see it, and the fact that I went to see it alone. And as you can see, I got on the bandwagon and simpsonized myself. I've been watching it since the beginning and I am one of the people who will grieve like I would over the loss of a friend when the day comes that they finally cancel this show. " [More]
Fantastic, raw, and hillarioius

"This movie had to be one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. I've seen some comments that complained of the cheap, bathroom humor. I don't think this movie was made to really enlighten a person in the intellectual sense. It was brainless fun, and if you have even the slightest bit of intellect, it was vindicating if your view of the world is suspect. " [More]
