A Figure Skater's Take

"I was hesitant about seeing Blades of Glory because it seemed to make fun of my sport. However, after much contemplation, I found myself sitting in the theater eagerly awaiting the beginning of the movie. What made me rethink my boycott of this movie was the fact that several professional skaters make appearances in the film such as Sasha Cohen, Scott Hamilton, Nancy Kerrigan and others. I thought it couldn't be THAT negative towards figure skating if these people are supportive. The minute the film started I think I laughed... and laughed for the duration of the film. I have to say it exceeded my expectations. The only downside for me was some of the vulgarity, but that's what you get with WIll Ferrell. " [More]
A Lifetime Original?

"If I had a list called "Movies that could have been aired on Lifetime" this would for sure be in it! Although I liked the movie overall it was a bit slow and had a lot of characters that were not critical to the plot. There were some moments that made me laugh and a few that left me confused (the juke box)... Other than those few negatives it's a great movie. " [More]
My Favorite Movie

"Message in a Bottle is my all time favorite film. I think Paul Newman does an excellent job and provides just the right amount of humor needed in this very emotionally touching movie about two people who learn that it is possible to love more than once in a lifetime. The movie takes place in the Outer Banks, which gives it a calm feeling. If you have read the book by Nicholas Sparks you may notice a few differences, but they are minor. " [More]

"I watched A Tree Grows in Brooklyn after reading the book. I enjoyed learning more about that time period in New York and was captivated by the little girls' ambition. However, there were so many details mentioned in the book that while watching the movie it seemed like important information was left out. If I had watched this with someone who hadn't read the book I would feel as though I'd need to explain a lot in order for the other viewer to get the full effect of this captivating story. If you decide to watch this movie, I highly recommend opening the book first. " [More]

"This movie met my expectations. Although they weren't high to begin with, it was a cute story; quite humorous and silly. " [More]

"This movie fulfilled its purpose of bringing the importance of the Louisiana bayou to its viewer's attention. The scientific portion of the movie was well thought out and presented in a way that even a child could understand. In that aspect the movie was great. After leaving the theatre the image that stayed with me the most was of alligators - they were shown more than anything else in the movie. There could have been more depth into the characters in the movie and less shots of random gators. Overall it was a good documentary of Hurricane Katrina and the devistation to come if we do not make important changes. " [More]
