"Hmmm...this site is either proof of the coming Apocalypse or confirmation that we are the coolest country in the world. Can't decide. "

"I'm not against slow movies in general; just in this genre. I expect a comedy to move at a brisker pace, especially a film like Napoleon Dynamite. It's not a satire along the lines of Waiting for Guffman or a subtle meditation on human foibles along the lines of Broken Flowers -- its goal is to make you laugh out loud. Which it does, it just takes a while to get there. It would be similar to walking into a disco and finding that everyone is dancing ballet -- there's nothing wrong with ballet, it's just not what you're expecting in that context. "

"Simon Sez Santa Here's a website that's only up for the holidays - SimonSezSanta. Basically, you get to order Santa around. You can ask him to dance, to yodel, to kiss his reindeer - and the big guy complies. It's twisted, but it's fun. "

"Okay, so maybe I'm the only one who saw that movie! It was Nobody's Fool, starring Rosanna Arquette and...Eric Roberts. Of course y'all know that Eric's little sis is Julia. His other sister is Lisa Roberts Gillan. (And his daughter is Emma - starting to hit it big as a teen actor.) Rosanna's sibs are David, Patricia and Alexis. If I left anybody out, let me know!! "

Grew up in the 80's
"I didn't have a crush on Bill Murray, but I have to put a vote in for Caddyshack. Murray's stoned greenskeeper was pure comedic genius. Oh, and I have to include Stripes and Ghostbusters. Long live Bill! "

"I'm with Wonga -- Scrooged is fantastic. Bill Murray is at his cynical best, and Carol Kane rocks as the Ghost of Christmas Present. "

"I think A Christmas Story is charming - it takes us back to a more innocent time when getting a BB gun for Christmas was the pinnacle of joy. Having said that, I think after the first few viewings it works better as background material -- something to have on while you eat or open gifts. My favorite Christmas-themed movie would have to be Scrooged. Bill Murray is great throughout, and Carol Kane is divinely loopy as the Ghost of Christmas Present. I love the line "That bitch hit me with a toaster!" The ultimate Christmas movie for everybody, whether you love or loathe Christmas. "

art and trash you find in shoping carts
"Okay, since this conversation has devolved into 'all things poo-related,' I'll happily play along. If you'd like to see someone take an accidental poo shower, rent RV starring Robin Williams. It will give you pause should you ever need to empty a septic tank. I would also recommend Raising Arizona, for the scene where the Snoats brothers (John Goodman & William Forsythe) break out of the pen via the septic system. "

"My core body temperature is dropping just reading your posts - I think it's time to warm things up a bit! Try watching something filmed in a balmy, tropical location -- say, The Big Bounce, or Miami Vice. "

"A Fish Called Wanda? Overrated? Blasphemy! Kevin Kline is delightfully loony, and Jamie Curtis is at her acerbic, conniving best. Better hope that K-K-K-Ken doesn't try to k-k-k-kill you! "
