Re: Best of the sequels list

"Star Wars comes first for me as well, and then the rest just follow randomly:Indiana JonesDie HardMatrixLord of the RingsAustin PowersJames Bond (although I'm not really sure if that qualifies for this thread. Most, if not nearly all, of the movies don't really connect or reference the others in any way... they aren't really "sequels", in the same way that Casino Royale really isn't a "prequel" either, it's just kind of restarting the franchise)Honorable mention:American PieSawAce VenturaBladeBatman (although honestly, for me, the only one that I REALLY REALLY like is Batman Begins)X-Men " [More]

"Hey, everyone is welcome. :) Anyways, I wish I was a bit more like that. I think I feel that I would get more satisfaction (and overall value) out of my DVDs if I did watch more of the special features. But somehow, I can just never bring myself to watch them unless it's a movie I really enjoy. Something like Gladiator or Hannibal I've watched the deleted scenes and a little bit else, and I enjoy those movies A LOT. I'm working on clearing out all the special features for Hot Fuzz though, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite movies in a very long time. On a side note, I don't think I've ever watched an entire movie with the commentary. I've started a few, but I don't think I've ever finished. Hot Fuzz will be the first. :) " [More]

"Yeah, that's pretty much the same with me. I have super special editions of some movies/trilogies.. like the special Matrix trilogy 10 disc set.. I've only ever watched the movies.. no special features on any of them, or the Animatrix.. I've watched 3 out of 10 discs. Hahahahaha. But it does have a cool bust of Neo. I may end up buying the super awesome edition of Blade Runner as well. 5 discs, 5 different versions of the film, nice figurines and a briefcase. Damn. Hahahah " [More]

"How often do you watch the special features on a DVD? If it's just a typical movie I liked, I probably won't watch any of them. Maybe outtakes, blooper reels, or deleted scenes if there are any. Those are the three most typical features watched for me. However, if it's a movie I love, like Hot Fuzz, I'll watch nearly all of them, or perhaps all. I'm on my way with Hot Fuzz. I'd like to watch it with commentary (the UK version got 4 commentaries, we only got one), and the trvia track (Fuzz-O-Meter). " [More]

"I enjoyed Platoon, but like I (think) have mentioned before, the war genre of movies doesn't do a ton for me. Especially the ones based on Nam, Korean, WWII, etc. Not that I don't enjoy them, they're just movies that I don't have a ton of interest in. I've never seen Saving Private Ryan (well I saw bits and pieces, but not much), Black Hawk Down, etc. I would like to see those along with some older war movies like Apocalypse Now and A Bridge Too Far. "You know, I bought the Oliver Stone Collection from FYE.com for cheap a while back (I think around $10 or so after mail in rebate). It includes 15 movies of his, and the only one I have ever seen is Platoon (which I enjoyed, but it was nothing great). Maybe I should get around to watching those. :) " [More]

"This just popped into my mind, so here goes: Christopher Nolan is another great one that I'm really into right now. Batman Begins, The Prestige, Insomnia, and Memento are the ones I've seen and liked a lot. I rented Followers but haven't watched it yet. " [More]

Let's talk directors..

"Now, I'm not ashamed to admit that's only been within the past year or two that I've actually only started to pay attention to the people directing movies. Sure, I knew George Lucas, Spielberg, etc., but not many others. And I still don't know I ton. But, I'm getting there. But anyways, let's talk some of your favorite directors. One that comes to mind for me is Ridley Scott. I really enjoyed Gladiator, Blade Runner, and Alien. That's a pretty solid chunk of movies there. Thelma & Louise is also pretty good.Judd Apatow is another one that is in my current interests. He did both 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, and I love both. " [More]

Don't rent and/or buy Pathfinde ...
By Biglesworth23 in HMC Food Service Group of Awesomeness
"I do not recommend it at all. Honestly, I like nearly every movie I see. I'd say that 99% of movies I've seen I would give at least 2 and a half to 3 stars out of 5. I'd say a 2 out of 5 is appropriate here. It's not horrible (like Bloodrayne, the reigning champion of horrible movies on my list), but it's just not worth watching for really anything at all. Some somewhat decent action, I guess. Maybe. Pretty much lacks any sort of plot or consistency. " [More]

"Definitely a good topic. I'm going with Dumb & Dumber, the first Austin Powers, and I'm combining in the original Star Wars trilogy. I've seen all of those so many times. Honorable mentions:Ace Ventura (both of them), Anchorman, Elf, several James Bond movies, Spaceballs, and I'm sure many others. I find that comedies are the movies that I want to rewatch the most. A lot, especially stuff like Hot Fuzz and Anchorman, have tons of stuff that I missed the first few times through that I only see on later viewings. " [More]

"That cop who mumbled also reminded me of the Waterboy guy as well. Hahahaahah For me, although I'm not going to spoil anything (I'd like to avoid spoilers in these discussions if at all possible), the last half hour or forty five minutes is just completely awesome. I love the action. " [More]
