Re:True Horror

"
So did anything about her seem ethereal? Do you think she was a ghost?
Do you mean besides her very odd behaviour towards a total stranger and the fact that she seemingly vanished into thin air in an instant? As I said before she looked as real to me as any person I have ever seen and her hand felt real enough to me when we did the "high-five"... There was something at that instant when we did the high-five... Her eyes seemed to wander from me and looked at something in the distance... almost skyward. The expresion on her face changed and the smile went away. At that instant I thought this was very strange. Her blonde hair was pinned up in the back and her eyes were brown or hazel, I think. She wore a grey cloth jacket that was buttoned or zipped up to the neck with grey "fur" around the neck and sleeves and bottom and blue-jeans. As you have read earlier, I have seen at least a couple of "ghosts" and this girl did not fit the ... " [More]

Halloween viewing... NOTLD
By Dr_Gor in HORROR MOVIES 101
"Every Halloween I make it a point to watch at least a couple good horror films. This year, with the popularity of Paranormal Activity following on the heels of Blair Witch , I decided to go "old-school" with the original ultra-low-budget blockbuster that started them all. Night of the Living Dead (1968) was THE drive-in hit movie of it's day that set the standards for horror movies - and ZOMBIE movies - for years to come. I first saw this at the drive-in during it's initial release (my Dad took me) and I have seen it about 100 times since then. I have no less than 6 (!) DIFFERENT copies of this movie in my collection including TWO different colorized versions and the infamous "30th Anniversary Edition" that includes newly filmed added scenes. This year I watched the original version. What a great movie. I have memorized every scene and every line of dialogue and it never gets old! I followed this up with the 1990 remake directed by Tom Savini... Night of t ... " [More]

"
I am beginning to think a "virgin sacrifice" might be in order but where am I going to find one of THOSE ??? < GOR >
But, seriously, everytime I link a movie on SPOUT I am directing my readers to a different website (IMDb). This has been going on for more than a year. You would think that the SPOUT administrators would have noticed this by now and would have corrected the problem. It is obvious that they have not. Obviously nobody cares. I think that SPOUT needs some new management. I joined this site because I love movies and I started my little Horror Movies 101 group hoping to find a couple of people to talk about horror movies with. This exploded into a big thing and it was great fun for awhile but I guess now the party is over. Too bad. I think we had a good thing going for awhile there. ... " [More]

"

Still stuck. Any word on whether it will be fixed?
Hey, Christi, why don't you just tell everyone the truth. The "Spout-Gods" have abandoned this site and we are on our own. The "link-a-movie" function has not worked for me for more than a year! So I just link my titles to IMDb instead. Several of the stats have not been updated for nearly a year. There have been NO new members here for quite some time so I believe there is NO advertising. Looking through the movies I have not noticed ANY that are still for sale on SPOUT! I have purchased several films from SPOUT in the past and would continue to do so but I cannot find any movies for sale! It looks like this site is going down the drain and I will do everything in my power to keep my Horror Movies 101 group from going with it. < GOR >
I am beginning to think a "virgin sacri ... "Just in time for Halloween... It has been several years since I've had anything truly unexplainable or blatantly paranormal happen to me, but just last week something happened that I have absolutely no explanation for. I am still kind of reeling from this and trying to figure it out. Word for word this is all true EXACTLY as it happened... Last Wednesday morning I woke up feeling like I was getting sick... you know the feeling, the burning sensation in the back of your sinuses and throat that tell you that a cold or the flu is coming on... I went to work and as the day progressed I found I was getting sicker by the minute. By 10:00 am I was too sick too go on so I left work and by the time I got home I was REALLY sick. I don't know if it was H1N1 or just a REALLY bad cold but I was in bad shape. The next day, Thursday, I was basically too sick to get out of bed except to go to the bathroom and get some water. At times I thought I was going to die and at times ... " [More]

"
Ooooh Jenny Agutter. She's hot in Logan's Run. I'll have to see that. I wonder how the wolf transformation will be in the new Wolfman movie. I heard they were gonna do it all with make up but then gave in and used CG.
If you would like to see a young Jenny Agutter nude and you are into Italian westerns (which I know you are), then you must check out Amore, piombo e furore (1978) . (aka "China 9, Liberty 37" ... this enigmatic title is taken from a signpost at the beginning of the movie) . This Italian/Spanish production is about a love triangle in the old west involving Agutter, Warren Oates and the aptly named Fabio Testi... And with a brief appearance by none other than Sam Peckinpah as a "dime-novelist"! < GOR > " [More]

"
Yeah, I was really into this film that scene in particular was really well done but as far as I'm concerned, tiger shark vs. zombie vs topless scuba girl... Well, it doesn't really get any better than that does it? I honestly had to watch and rewatch that scene a few times. I'm gonna have to find out how they shot that one. I can only imagine that it had to be one of the most dangerous scenes I've ever seen captured. I mean... you can't really train a shark not to attack.
You must remember that this movie was made long before CGI-FX were ever invented. And there was no "double-exposure" trick photography here. That is a very real (and very large!) tiger shark in the water with these people! PROBABLY drugged but still... And it is not just the actors... there are at least a couple of camera-men in there as well... This is what I have read ... The stuntman who was scheduled to do that scene suddenly got 'sick' on the day of the shoo ... " [More]

The House of The Devil

Was this review helpful? [Be the first to tell us!]
"I think a lot of younger people won't like this one, but I liked The House of the Devil (2009) a LOT. This is a pretty cool homage to the great "Drive-In" horror movies of the late 1970's-early 1980's. This movie looks, and feels, as if it were released in 1981. And that's a good thing. The "opening-credit" sequence alone is a paen to several great movies of that era... The entire sequence itself is lifted directly from The Exorcist. But the music is more "techno-pop" (but still creepy!) making it look like an older Italian Horror or Giallo. And the title and opening credits flashing on the screen in big, gaudy orange letters really took me back to my drive-in days. The story was a lot of fun, too. A very simple "comic-book" storyline with very few characters and an intense feeling of impending dread throughout. You already KNOW what is going to happen, you just don't know when or how. When it DOES happen it is a bit overwhelming and frightening even for ME! ... " [More]

"
An American Werewolf in London
You left off the ending where David is gunned down in the alley. This is a GREAT movie and one of my favorites! The transformation scene and the werewolf effects were state of the art for their time and are nothing short of spectacular. Jenny Agutter naked in the shower only adds to the many charms of this classic... < GOR > " [More]
