"Aw man, I love all these movies, except for Shade. Haven't seen that. I wouldn't have considered any of these a GP. Maybe not cinematic genius, but not crap. " [More]

"100% agreed. Although I still find it a little cheap for animators to go the digital route, It still takes a tremendous amount of talent to make the films coming out of Pixars studio.Viva American Pop!Viva Heavy Metal! Viva Akira!etc etc etc " [More]
Making Money Or Making Art.
By AndyLaBryn in Philosophy of Film
"Recently had an good question of opinion presented to me.I caught the ad for Alvin and The Chipmunks on TV, and thought to my self. Jason Lee is pretty much a wanker for doing this movie. Directly after the ad, another popped up for an animated kids movie, starring Jason As voice talent.I have more respect for Jason Lee doing voice for an animated kids movie, than I would for him acting as silly as he sounds in a live adaptation of a ridiculous kids cartoon from the 80s. What do you think? " [More]

"I haven't taken the course in Cinematic Algebra, so I can't begin to enter my stats into your algorithm. XDBut I can say, that You (risselada) have turned me onto Herzog, who is climbing my personal charts of favorite directors. Can't say I've seen a movie by the Coens I don't likeLittle iffy On Jarmusch yet, Need to spend more time watching his stuff I think.I have a mancrush on Kubrick. You (risselada) pointed out the brilliance of Sergio Leone to me as well.I love all of Tarantino's works as well as Rodriguez'Didn't see Linklater on your list, I love the stuff i've seen of his.I like the way Frank Miller is helping his stories come to life, whether or not that fits here.I also love the films coming from the Mexican Threesome - Guillermo Del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu.I could speculate more on why I love these people, oh and Sofia Coppola... but Spout runs so damn slow and choppy for me, it fi ... Drunk Asshole With A Wierd Voice

"Thats how many would perceive Charles Bukowski. Reduce his genius to drunk ramblings. This movie clearly shows how Charles lived and thought. Brilliantly put together with little interuptions of his poetry set to beautiful camera play. A no holds barred narrative by people who were close to him, telling how he touched their lives good and bad. If you don't know who Henry Charles Bukowski is, this is a pretty great introduction to the man. If you have a basic idea of him through the movies made about his writings, (eg. Barfly, Factotum) Check this out to see how far off Roarke and Dillon were. (which in my opinion, Dillon wins the contest of best Bukowski, although Roarke wasn't far away) If you hate Bukowski and think his stuff is garbage, I suggest you watch this anyway, maybe it will shed a different light towards your opinion. This coming from a bias fan. What can I say. " [More]

"Ralph suddenly loses strength in his legs and collapses to the floor like a bag of calculators. The only thing in his field of vision now are the legs on the edge of the desk and the bottom of the door that leads to the bathroom. Ralph in a state of paralysis realizes he's not able to speak let alone stand or perform any usefull motorskills. A thick white smoke begins to creep from under the door to the bathroom, a brilliant flash of green/yellow light consumes the room, someone shouts "CLEAR!" into Ralphs ears. Eager to move and gain understanding of whats happening, unable to even blink his eyes.... " [More]

"I'd like to hear Anne Coulter and Martha Stewart run the dialogue in the diner scene from the pork discussion all the way to the end and from when they enter the apartment until Anne Coulter shoots Marvin in the face. Re: Introduce Yourself
By AndyLaBryn in Introduce Yourself
"A reply to my self? ridiculous. I have some downtime at work. Anyhow, I never gave insight to my film love origins. My parents didn't really follow the "rated r" rule, so I was watching Platoon and Predator and Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket as a wee bugger. I myself would not let my young children watch that sort of thing, well not as young as I was. But I tell ya, it sure was fascinating. Aside from the cussing, sex and gore I was witnessing at such a sprite age, the kind of respect you get from your peers, being 10-12 years old and knowing, hearing and saying cuss words and explaining graphic things to your friends, is like gold in your pocket. Aside from that, Films were one of the few things my dad and I could do together without yelling and fighting. It's like my security blanket. Now I just want to see every movie there is. Well, except for Titanic. " [More]

"Hi. If you can guess my real name, you win the cash and prizes. I am a 26 year old sales associate. I sell used foreign auto parts for the largest used foreign auto parts outfit in michigan. I actually live in Allendale, but I don't attend any college. I was introduced to spout through Risselada. We went to highschool together and actually made some short wierd films our senior year. After graduation we went completely opposite ways from each other and randomly about 6/7 years later we came back in contact. I talk to him nearly every day now.I know this is supposed to be about me, but if you don't know Risselada, he is one of the most energetic and exciting people to be around. His love and knowledge for film is absolutely astounding as well as his caliber of intelligence and capacityI had a child at 19 years old, and the relationship didn't turn out like so many happy endings do. I moved away from Jenison and into the poorer areas of Grand Rapids. I never attended coll ... " [More]
