"The basic functionality is spot on but it needs polishing to become not only useful but painless. The ratings should save in the background, not block further ratings while the first saved. Get some threads on those. Everything involving a hit back to the server should be done without getting in the way of me using the tool. When the page first loads up, load up the next set of movies in each direction. That way even if I've just rated all the movies on that page and I click a direction button the server's not immediately doing any work, just loading up the cached set. As far as recommendations go, I'm witholding judgement. Netflix has over 2,000 movies rated by me and a much deeper dataset to compare against. Not to mention a more mature algorithm. To compare, I have ~250 movies rated in Spout and you guys just launched this service.
