if i were a movie character
"I think who I most identify with is Joel Barish from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - and I wouldn't mind putting him out there as a character that represents me maybe 60% of the time. He's a good guy - yet confused - does some stuff he regrets and would love to forget them - and I'm always thinking that it'd be great to erase half of my memories b/c most of them are useless and embarassing. But I always come back to realizing that those bad choices are what make me ME and just like Joel I would make them again to make myself happy with the life I've lived. "

"I once heard that the definition of insanity is doing something over and over and getting the same result – but you keep doing it expecting to get a different result. That’s how I feel about people who tell me that I need to watch a movie again because it takes at least 3 viewings in order to “get it”. A prime example is the movie Eraserhead. I really didn’t like this movie – it really just annoyed me. I started going around telling people – “Hey, I saw this really bad movie called Eraserhead! Whatever you do don’t watch it!” and little did I know – it’s considered a “classic” so many people have seen it already and told me that it was awesome. Well, they started saying I needed to watch it something like 3 times in order to “get it” – it’s like telling me to drive a nail through my foot and then telling me to do it again because the next time I would “like it” ... "This movie is brilliant in its badness. The plot makes little if no sense. The characters motivations are confusing to understand (especially the Bellarians). The editing, sound, direction, continuity and dialog is all pathetic. But I loved it! Especially, Kalgan and his plot to make the ship The Southern Sun land in a near by system so he can obtain ‘wealth and power’. If I were to ever meet Kalgan – not John Phillip Law who portrayed Kalgan in a fit of overacting brilliance. I’m talking if I ever met the character Kalgan I would ask him: If the Southern Sun’s mission was to land on some “Earth 2” – why force the ship to land early? Can’t you obtain your ‘wealth and power’ on “Earth 2” just as easy as obtaining it on any other random planet? - - But then again – he’s got his plan – so why should I spoil it by asking silly questions? - - Then you’ve got Reb Brown as Dave Ryder &nda ... "By this title - I'm not trying to say anything negative. What I'm saying - movies that make a shift in the characters internal thinking. A movie where no guns are pulled and no car chases are chased and no great love of your life is discovered. What I'm addressing are movies that where people get together, live together and learn learn together. I love these independent focused movies where people's environments make them grow and adapt into a better way of life and you have to wonder after the film is through - will they make it? Will they survive this new way of life - or will they fall back into their old habits? I could watch the story of some of these people's lives for hours on end and enjoy every minute of it.My top 5 in that category are...5) Half Nelson (2006)4) About a Boy (2002)3) Sideways (2004)2) The Station Agent (2003)1) Little Miss Sunshine (2006) "

"I really liked Days - but Weeks just didn't measure up. I thought it had some really good moments. But over all it tried to pick up on some of the message from Days - but it didn't achieve the affect in the same way as Days did. Lack of a solid concept, character development and major plot holes really ruined a well shot film. The concept on how the virus survived to strike again was completely mishandled and it all ruined the tension of the ending completely. Robert Carlyle was (for once) over used - but in all the wrong ways. There was no character development and so pretty much everyone was expendable which in this kind of movie really ruins people's ability to connect to it. I liked Harold Perrineau in Oz and am glad to see him in this – but there was a major plot hole regarding his character, a helicopter, a field and the splatter of infected that should’ve killed everyone including himself. It was more careless than the kids wandering off into quaranti ... "
