Personal statement:

Movies are a great way to escape life's brutal realities,  and quite often bring a smile to your face that may not have been there before.

Babel

"Oddly intense for a slow movie. Babel takes you out of your comfort zone by using plausible real life situations all while taking you out of your box if you will. It brings to the light the difference in cultures around the globe, and what may seem commonplace to them, can be uncomfortable for us. While have watched movies with far more gore and violence, I was intense and almost fearing what might happen next in this movie. I think it could have been a better movie if it came more full cirlcle at the end connecting all of the different characters in the movie (it was more of a linear connection than a circular). "I am not sure which one cam first, but the movie The Greatest Game ever played is much like this movie. Set in the 30's time frame, under dog does some good golfing, etc. Fun movie to watch, nothing that is going to knock you out of your seat. " [More]
Cult Classic

"Star Wars, Star Trek, Godfather, Scarface, step aside for Dumb and Dumber...Ok, so the first time you watch it, you are probably thinking it was somewhat funny, but whats all the fuss for? However, by the second and third time you watch it with your buddies and you start learning some of the lines and spitting them back out at each other when you have had one too many at the bar, thats when it gets funny. Its like any other classics of that genre, Billy Madison, Old School, Wedding Crashers...it takes time to fully enjoy these movies. "....where the water flows like wine and the women flock like the salmon of capastrano, its a little place I like to call...Aspen.... I don't know Lloyd, the French as a-holes." "I can't believe there isn't a single job in town .... yeah, not unless you want to work 40 hours a week" Those could be off a little here and there, but you get the gist. " [More]
Paul Walker actually does well

"Normally I am not a huge fan of Paul Walker, I don't dislike the guy, but just don't find his acting very believable a lot of the time. He silenced me this movie, I felt like I was actually watching a veteraned actor. This movie is one where you are quite sure to how to feel about it either...You walk away just, "wow, interesting, sick..." What I do like about the film is it doesn't sugar coat anything, we get some relatively realistic insight into the types of people that can be out there. I think that was the most disturbing part of the movie, not the violence, hell, we have all seen that. " [More]
Sparks an interest in me

"Being a boater myself, yes I am partial to this movie. Overall though I think it is a good movie, fairly well done with a good story line. Scott Wolf is kind of a weiner, but plays the role well. I think what draws the movie to me how neat I think it would be to have the opportunity to do something like that. (minus the white squall) The interesting places you can visit, the sense of adventure, learning the ins and outs of a time-old trade. I am sure many of you are thinking "gag-me", but I will stick to my guns and say that I think it would be a once in a life time experience.-BBissellwww.boater sbasement.com " [More]
Would you take the risk?

"I want to know...how many of you would do it? For the kind of easy money it would bring, how many of you would do it? Not to say that you have to become a druggie yourself, if you could have the kind of cash and toys they have, would you take the risk?... You are probably thinking, "well, would you?" and that is a fair question. I think there would have to be a lot of variables in place. Like...do I have much going for me right now....do I like my friends and family....overall right now I would probably say no. " [More]
One of the best movies this decade
By bbissell in bbissell Blog

"Let me start off with this is one of my all-time favorite films, if not THEE favorite. Perhaps it because I am particular to Greek and Roman times (I just happen to find it all very interesting). But I also believe that it is simply a well produced and put together movie. One that can go for over two hours and at the end your saying, "is it over already" unlike something dreadful like Colin Farrel's Alexander. I think what helps draw someone into a movie is when they can not only relate to a character, but want to actually BE that character. After watching it I always think, "I would be Maximus any day", that all around bad-ass that takes us out of our boring routine and makes us feel like heroes for a couple of hours. The movie is definitely action based with violence, but as long as that doesn't bother you, I would highly recommend to anyone who hasn't seen the movie, take a couple hours and do so, it is well worth your time! Re: Favorite Film Scores?

"I have to say that one of my favorite film scores is Last of the Mohicans. I think James Horner did it (he has done a lot of great stuff I'm sure as you all know). That is good enough music that you could watch it outside the movie and still enjoy it. " [More]
A trade?

"Although you could categorize it as a chick flick, I have to admit that I really enjoy the movie. Stopping to wonder why I do in fact like it, it came to me quite easily, who wouldn't want to be in Thomas Crown's shoes in this movie? Good looking young untouchable rule the world multi multil millionaire... hmmm... sound like a gig I would happily take up. Anyone else? I have to give props to Renee Russo's character in the movie as well. They make her a powerful, intelligent bounty hunter, which on top of her good looks, adds to her sex appeal. Nothing wrong with the see through dress she wears in the movie either. " [More]
Tummy Sticks anyone?

"It isn't very often where you can find a cult classic that meets up to the likes of Animal House and others. I love a movie where the lines are good enough to repeat and apply to your real life situations. Like, "Mom! Meatloaf! #$%@!" Or "Death you are my $#@$# lover!" Good clean fun, love the movie, thanks for listening. " [More]
