Deep Hidden Meaning Behind Silly Humor
"Borat's hidden meaning is many layers deep. Some of the subtle observations on life are so easy to spot on the surface they don't really count as even hidden. For example one very surface level message was "things are not always what they appear....".... i.e. don't build your life around a baywatch lifeguard if you haven't even met her, let alone if she prefers to date guys with more tattoos then you ...... However that "hidden meaning" is so obvious and in one's face that it doesn't really count as hidden for purposes of this high bar list. For the hidden meaning of Borat we have to slice several layers deep through the various "teaser meanings" to get down to the hard core meaning.... "Whatever you do in life, do it with passion and sincereity" whether it is traveling the country to seek out the love of your life, blind allegiance versus thoughtful patriotism, or having dinner with a bunch of folks versus really connecting with them."... I even think there was some h ... " [More]

Deep Hidden Meaning Behind Silly Humor
"Monster House was a cute movie with some interesting hidden meaning. The first hidden meaning was that things are not always what they seem. The Monster House was not as one dimensional as it appeared. The second hidden meaning was that good and evil are not just black and white. The evil character in the house was shown to have at least some humanity (even though she was a house!) It is heartening to see kids movies with at least some such redeeming hidden meaning that even kids can pick up on! It has been a long time since the heydey of the old great Disney animation materpieces with rich overt and subtle meaning that shaped us all! Nowadays most of the kids movies are just flat when it comes to cool hidden meanings. Monster House is the exception! ( Side note.......I saw Monster House in "Read-D" with the 3D glasses and the 3D effect is incredible, the best one I have seen over the years!) " [More]

"This was a disappointing movie. For a detailed analysis of the hidden meaning that was not in this film, check out the conversation post in the public Spout group "Deep Films with Hidden Meaning" and look for the conversation titled "Don't be Fooled....." For the recap here, I'll just leave it at "Ouch!" " [More]

"I recently saw "Click" with high hopes, as a long time Adam Sandler fan. The concept, at least as outlined in the movie previews I had seen, looked rather intriguing. A universal remote, to control life.....how wonderful! I could think of all kinds of interesting pranks, flourishes, and good for the world I would carry out with such a device. Surely there will be some profound meaning in such a film, I thought. I was sadly mistaken. The storyline was so blatant in its angle - that the protagonist worked too hard and didn't have his life perspective in balance - the course of the movie was pretty clear in the first five minutes or less. The "deep lesson" of "know what's important" was about as subtle as a charging herd of elephants. As a matter of fact, as the movie proceeded, I became tired of seeing so many hollow "slams" made against one-dimensional characters and stereotypes..... . By the time the movie was done it seemed to, in my view, insult any hard working person, ... " [More]
