"Stick-it...when i first saw the previews for this movie, it was advertised as "from the directors/producers/makers??? of bring it on" (i don't remember). i was thrilled with this, since i have so many wonderful memories of watching the ridiculous and yet somewhat funny bring it on. although i never saw any of the later bring it on sequels - bring it on again or bring it on: all or nothing, i will forever remember sitting in tara's bedroom watching this cheerleading movie about silly high school boys and girls again, and again, and again... you get the idea. it still brings a smile to my face. but anyways, my point. i was curious about this new movie. i had high hopes that it would hold the similar dizzy, girly stupidity that bring it on consisted of. but when i got to the theater and watched the movie, i was pleasantly surprised. stick it is about not compromising. it's about not settling for less. it's about being a strong human being. way deeper and more inspirational t ... "Please bear with me, as I am a blog virgin. I am not sure how this is suppose to work, but I am willing to give it a try. So here goes nothing. In the Time of the Butterflies ... this is one film that I wanted to talk about because it really moved me. In short, it is about a revolution in the DR that was basically started (or at least progressed) by three young sisters. I first saw this movie as a timid sophmore spanish student at Calvin. I sat in awe during the whole movie - transfixed by these amazing women. I felt that I was a part of the story, but then again, this is what every great movie should do for you. I was overwhelmed by the attitude of the faithful women even in the imminent face of death. It especially encouraging that these revolutionists were women. Now don't get me wrong, I am no bra burner - I believe that woman have a place and men have a place. But these women were strong and persistant in standing up for what they believe, and this should transend ... " [More]
