Introduce Yourself
"I *wondered* where SkyPilot went... maybe we should take up a donation to get him a laptop or something? Hmm...I'm Ingrid. I always wanted to be an Ingrid, so decided to be Ingrid here at Spout, where the name means something. I have nothing in common with THE Ingrid, except maybe a propensity for not always following social norms. Not that I *mind* social norms, just don't feel the need to step in with them always. So reallly I'm Julie or Juju. Online I'm usually Juju. The Spout founders and Spout folks and the folks who work for them are friends and clients of mine. I'm not doing much work for them now, but my firm is. Our designers are the folks who work hard on this interface and on Spout swag, and Spout experiences. Everybody working on Spout is working their heart out. Exciting to watch it grow. Hope you like it, or will speak up to say what else it could and should be, like Rizzo here does, bless his heart. I support the work of designers and coders throug ... "

"DANG it. I wanted to come today and show you guys how the bamboo baby sweater turned out before I mail it, and sit and work on the big Noro sweater, and stuff... but we have an IRA meeting at BBK, and I really have to go. Plus it's a free lunch. But DANG.... "

"SO SO SO sorry I missed it. I got behind on deadlines, and couldn't hop in. So glad you moved it to Four Friends, though. Do you think they loved us there, or is it too busy at lunch time, or....? What? "

"First, this is not a comedy. Don't be fooled. It has a kind of slapstick plot, alright, but just the sort of slapstick that is all too common in military and political arenas in all history, throughout time. It does have some very scathing monologues about American and British attitudes that seem to ring with clarity all these years later, sadly, sadly enough. I have my elderly Dad over most weekends, and his short-term memory is about gone now, so one strategy I have for breaking through the five-questions-a-minute cycle is to watch old movies or sports with him. We plug into AMC for a couple of hours a day when he's visiting. Dad was career Navy through WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam, a retired Captain who started out his career as an admiral's aide, the same position that James Garner had in this movie. I'd never heard of this movie, but I saw it was playing on AMC, Navy, War movie, comedy, romantic.... perfect, right?Holy crap.I can't disagree with the All Movie ... "

"Hey y'all. Kristin's going to be in town on the 4th, and though we might still be hung over, and it's not our regular knitting date, I think we should think about meeting up at noon that day for a knit.And... is it time to find a spot that's big enough to hold our growing group? Think we can take over 4 Friends on that day? Or any other idears? Dears?Christmas movies you've seen four million times are super excellent to knit to. Anybody notice? I knitted to White Christmas last night. I still have to put down the sticks when the Whos in Whoville sing their song at the end and the star rises. I cry like a baby at that every time.J. "

art and trash you find in shoping carts
"Now I'm trying to remember the scene. I think Dern plays a vet or a parisitologist or an archeological zoologist (?)-- anyway a scientist -- and she's trying to figure out what may be wrong with the dino -- so basically is feeling around in the poo to help her diagnosis. She's really pretty matter of fact about it, because, you know, it must be done. The poo is still steamy, I think. But maybe I'm making that up. "

"Oh, I loved Passion Fish too. He and Sayles have done a whole lot of work together. One of my favorite funny moments is when the two of them played alien bounty hunters, I think, in the Brother from Another Planet. A Sayles movie from the wayback machine. The Strathairn fan site and Yahoo group are a real labor of love. Watch out... downloading and watching those clips can become addictive.Spout guy Bill, who did the podcast interview, tells me there's a lot of David in Moss Goodman, and a lot of Moss in David, which he may have been telling me just to watch me lose all muscle tone. I'm being mocked for my love. But I don't care. "

"So I lied. It was not the best love scene. The best was his "Ingrid Bergman" speech, an episode or two later. Which can be seen again, thanks to the amazing Andrea at davidstrathairn.com.Not to be missed as my next favorite Strathairn moment is when the guys at Spout interviewed him for his film, Steel Toes.I can understand this phrase, "bestill my foolish heart," as I grow older while Strathairn just gets better...
