Now I Know What's Troubling God

"Please understand; I cannot even begin to imagine the absolute complexity of God's mind, but I can appreciate at least one paradox of God's condition: the power to do absolutely everything, but no permission given (well, God can give Godself permission; just like I can name myself 'King of the Literati'). I realized this while watching You, Me & Dupree. I myself am like Dupree, except I'm 'Dupree before the movie started!' That means I'm a bit needier than 'the Randolph Dupree we see' is; but if I keep my eyes on 'the goal,' the gifts found in "building up to it" will lead me to greater-and-greater abundance! What is 'the goal'? Service. Service to nature. Service to family. Service to friends. Service to the Divine Desire. Through Randolph Dupree's service, through Owen Wilson's service and through my service, they who hear us will meet the world with Seven Kinds of Smoke, help the world to accommodate the MotherShip, and top it of with Mandy the Mormon Librarian's very-own, ... "'The lesson I got from this' is just like 'the lesson I got from the Gospel': if you go against the-powers-that-be, you're going to go down and your whole world is going to crumble. But--if the-powers-that-be are wrong and their wrongness comes into battle against your documented rightness--your rightness continually destroys their wrongness through to the end of time! " [More]

"That's what the producers should have named the film (instead of The Sleeping Dictionary) ... that's the only reason I watched it---that, and it was late at night (shown on one of the Encore Channels ... premium cinema, without descending into 'skin-ema'). Don't get me wrong; Bob Hoskins and Jessica Alba et al. did a fine-fine job portraying their assorted characters, but ... well ... the theaters weren't selling excessive amounts of popcorn with the action of this film! Re:The Problem with Time Travel
By mythman in sci-fi
"
... 12 Monkeys was one of the most interesting Time Travel movies. I was always amused by the Back to the Future movies how they always tried to break down time travel and the ramifications and explain it to the audience, and then it would go right ahead and break all of the rules it set up.
I agree that 12 Monkeys was good to time-travel, and that the Back to the Future series was first-and-foremost a comedy. Another one that was good to time-travel was the Terminator series - most-notably Terminator 3 which (like 12 Monkeys) presented a logical truth about Time-Travel. The Butterfly Effect (2004) might've done that too--I don't remember. Bluntly, that truth is that there are some things you can't prevent (just like there are some you can't predict.) It makes me think of Rubik's Algorhythms---sets of four twists that, when repeated, move a selected square to the 'front' without radically changing any of the other squares on the 'front' (I saw in a ... "
I guess not technically "Scrooge" but I'd totally vote Bill Murray in Scrooged:p BTW, these polls are impossible. I can never choose!
I know! Most of the other Scrooge's ended up with a lesson that was kind of, 'Okay ... I've learrrrned a lessonnnn ... Merry Christmas, Yawwwwwwwwwn ...' But Bill Murray gave us a whole epilogue on the meaning of Christmas! After seeing Scrooged, the rest of the after-Ghosts Scrooge's were just a bunch of humbugs! " [More]
